Elvis era um patriota de mão cheia. Em 1976 os Estados Unidos comemoravam o bicentenário de sua independência. Elvis não poderia de deixar sua marca, por isso adicionou a canção "América" em seu repertório. Em 2001 a canção voltou a fazer sucesso nos Estados Unidos pois foi associada ao movimento patriótico gerado pelo 11 de setembro. "América" é uma interpretação magistral de Elvis e que mostra seu inigualável talento apesar de todos os problemas que vinha passando naquele ano.
